The film as a whole ended up being panned across the board, but every review had to at least give it up to Meryl for her work in humanizing the infamous Margaret Thatcher. If an actress is good enough to be better than everyone else every time she performs, then she might deserve another Golden Globe already. It’s a shame that Meryl’s name is pretty much synonymous with acting at this point since many will groan that she doesn’t need another Golden Globe. Who Should Win: Meryl Streep for The Iron LadyĪlthough we are firmly in support of Viola Davis for best actress, the finest actress in history turned in the performance of a lifetime this year. In The Help, she showcases herself as the indisputable lead (even though the trailers did a good job of advertising Emma Stone as the lead) and carries the film with flying colors. Viola Davis is relatively new to the screen, but at every turn she finds a way to showcase her talents. Although Bridesmaids certainly deserves a nomination in the comedy category (sadly, softer drama and other non-comedies usually end up here in place of true comedies like Bridesmaids, I wouldn’t have been surprised to see Hugo in this category instead of Drama, but such are the politics of film awards), I would prefer to see Paris or 50/50 in the winner’s circle. Had it gone into the Drama category where it belongs, we would have loved to see Midnight in Paris in the spotlight. To be honest, The Artist doesn’t belong in this category, but because it is in the category it deserves to be recognized as the best. As a debut piece and Cannes baby that has been generating steam for the past six months, this silent work of art has had people talking long enough to deserve a win. Seriously, have you seen the film? It won’t win any popularity contests or People’s Choice Awards, but those that can sit still and appreciate a silent film about the rise of talking films will find this to be a masterpiece. It’s just a shame almost no one has seen it yet. Being in this category almost guarantees a win, mostly because not only is the film an absolute masterpiece, it is also easily accessible to the public. Although I suppose you could call The Artist a “musical” because of the musical score that you hear instead of the actor’s words, it isn’t really more of a comedy than Hugo or The Help. It ends with the utter ruin of Tywin Lannister and all his works.” Little did Tywin ever suspect that it would be his own son-the man he always underestimated-who might prove the greatest threat to the Lannister legacy, and the key to cracking Casterly Rock from the inside. The Weinstein Company is basically cheating this time.
Tyrion lannister quotes unpregnable cracked#
“It ends,” she says, “when Casterly Rock is cracked open, so the sun can shine on the maggots and the worms within. In A Dance with Dragons one of the Sand Snakes, Nymeria, sees it as the last piece they need to knock over in their war against the Lannisters. Though Tywin Lannister died way back in Season 4 (or book 3), Casterly Rock still stands as a testament to the legacy he built. But Tyrion the Clever is most definitely ( probably) a Lannister through and through. Lann the Clever is the founding member of House Lannister, and Tywin’s favorite subject was how Tyrion didn’t belong as a member of the family. That sounds exactly like the kind of thing Tyrion would do, and even if his ultimate plan is nowhere near that involved, any and all link between Lann the Clever and Tyrion would further incense Tywin Lannister if he were still around.
